Telling the truth about your current reality is one of the four (4) key elements to experiencing a transformation when you want to make serious changes in your personal and business life. Telling the truth can often be a challenge, however. For some of us, looking at our current reality and feeling its impact fully, is very challenging. Challenging or not, it’s absolutely essential. Not accepting the truth about current reality opens the door for our natural resistance to take over. Acceptance is one of the four (4) keys to transformation.

Which part of your current reality feels threatening or intimidating to:

  • your core beliefs and values?
  • your needs? physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
  • your identity or reputation?

Feeling threatened or intimidated triggers your fight-flight-freeze, self-defensive reactions automatically. They can produce negative behaviors if you are not consciously aware of what is happening to you. I know for me, a common reaction to my perceived threats is to freeze. I numb out my emotions by pushing through my fear, I mask my anger by forcing a nervous smile, and I pretend to be positive and tell myself that everything is okay. Consequently, I don’t feel the truth of what I am experiencing or how it’s impacting me. I’m overcome with denial, and I ignore what I need to be paying attention to. Actually, this is my recipe for staying stuck in what I don’t want! This is the ultimate resistance to reality!

Fortunately, with much practice and self-awareness, I have become aware of this self-defeating pattern, and I stop it cold by accepting ‘what is’. It is at this point that I am able to consider the consequences of my actions or inaction and choose the path of least resistance. I choose to accept the truth. Telling the truth about your current reality will set you free from the habitual, unconscious reactions that only make things worse. If you have been trying to make serious changes without accepting the truth of your current reality, you will only continue to experience the same results that you want to change.

I have identified four (4) essential elements that must be present if you want to benefit from the powerful, organic energy of transformation:

  1. Awareness of current reality
  2. Awareness of ideal reality
  3. Acceptance-non-resistance
  4. Heat- energy-emotion

I’m dedicating the next two (2) weeks to helping you put the elements in place which are needed to experience the serious changes you want to make in your business and personal life. I’ve discussed the importance of telling the truth and accepting your current reality, two (2) of the four (4) key elements. (The same will be true for telling the truth and being aware of your ideal reality.) More about this next week.

Wealth Practice # 33 – Acceptance, non-resistance

  1. Refer to the area in your life that you want serious changes in. i.e. health, finances, business, relationships, etc. What aspects about this feel threatening or intimidating to you?
  2. What exactly are you doing to deny, ignore, or control your fearful situation(s)? (Be honest here.) This is how you begin to stop the automatic, self-defeating and resistant behaviors. Part of your current reality includes how you are responding to it!
  3. Now, name the emotions that you feel as you tell the truth about your current reality. Breathe as you feel them fully. Notice if you are blocking them. Focus on the emotion in your body, no matter how strong or faint that it is. Just allow it to be what it is. Don’t try to change it.

Remember, we are what we practice.

Keep wealth as a priority and remember why you want to be wealthy.
