Maintaining enthusiasm and focus on your dream for a soulful and financially rewarding business during times of challenge and inevitable delays might be easy at first, yet, how long can you continue your enthusiasm when your dream takes longer than you had hoped for? For many of us, it is easier to give up midstream than to continue to believe in ourselves and to trust and have faith that the Universe is on our side and will deliver.

Resistance is a natural part of our life. Its purpose is to maintain what we have previously determined will ensure our survival. Our automatic reactions for self-preservation and the process of creating what matters to us most, live in two completely different universes. Unfortunately, we are not effectively taught how to handle our natural, inner resistance when it automatically shows up during times of serious change. In fact, reacting to our resistance with our fight, flight, or freeze response is much more common than ‘being’ with it. Is that true for you? I know that has been true for me many more times than I care to admit.

Fortunately, having practiced the art of non-resistance for many years, I have come to recognize my resistance much sooner. By shifting out of my feeble, ineffective attempts of pushing and forcing myself to do what I think I should do, I am able to align with my inner resistance by acknowledging it. Miraculously, the resistance dissipates. Where did I learn to be powerful in the face of my own internal resistance and fear? Believe it or not, my greatest teacher was a firewalk! Yes, red hot coals taught me how to dissipate my fear naturally. It can teach you too, and you don’t even have to walk on fire. Whew!

Years ago, as I stood in front of a bed of red-hot coals, barefoot and trembling, I found myself in my typical and understandable reaction of ‘freeze’. Now, you might not blame me at all, in fact, you might think that my fear was doing me a favor. Well, it was. Not because I was going to walk on fire barefoot, but because I believed that I would get burned if I did! That’s what my fear was telling me. It was warning me about my belief. Not that fire burns as an absolute truth. This is very important to realize.

By becoming conscious and allowing my freeze response to be okay, and at the same time, holding onto my intention to walk on the fire, I experienced nothing short of a miracle. My fear washed away automatically. I became very calm, confident, and I was able to walk across a 10ft. bed of red-hot coals barefoot and NOT BE BURNED!

How can this help you create the financial and soulful business that is important to you? Plenty! Follow these three (3) simple steps the next time you find yourself confused, disillusioned, frustrated, or you just feel like giving up on your dreams, whether it’s earning 6-7 figures annually, doing what you love, having the ideal body weight, or finding the love of your life!

  1. Recognize if you are being critical, indifferent, or you’re trying to please someone. Take note that you are being run by your inner resistance. It’s okay, you’re to just notice.
  2. Identify what is really important that you want to create, the desire that has evoked your resistance.
  3. Now say, “Wow! I’m in resistance to what I want.” Breathe. Intend to have what you want and ask yourself this powerful question, “Am I now ready to have what I want?” Your body will either tell you yes or no. Accept the answer and check in again until you experience a confidence and knowing that a shift has taken place. This is an energetic transformation, not an intellectual exercise.

Dance with this one practice and see what happens. It took me barefoot across red-hot fiery coals. I believe it will get you across the zone of resistance into the realm of your desires!
