Isn’t it interesting how we humans are such creatures of habit? Try changing a habit, and feel the power of its subconscious force. Habits allow our lives to run more easily. We don’t have to think as hard as we go about the routines of our day, yet, when it is time to let certain habits go because they no longer serve us, havoc can take place in our lives for awhile.

One of my favorite somatic coaching teachers, Dr. Stuart Heller once said, “Standing between your intention and your action are your habits. Standing between what is coming toward you and your response are your habits. Standing between what is in front of you and your experience of it are your habits.”

It is powerful to consider what is required of us when we decide to expand our experience in life from scarcity and not enough into abundance and realizing our possibilities. As Dr. Heller so brilliantly states, it is the bureaucracy of our habits that keep us from achieving the changes that we want to see.

The only enemies that we really have are the thinking, feeling, and behavioral habits that we are not consciously aware of. Now that is something worth finding out about, don’t you think?

I have often written about how quickly our internal, natural resistance shows up the minute we decide to have things be different. This is a normal part of our existence. Once we recognize our habits that sabotage our desires, we can see them for what they are and stay conscious and alert. It is from this place that we can decide to change how we think, feel, and subsequently take action.

We can then begin to work consciously to repeat new ways of thinking, feeling, moving, and behaving. We can act in new ways that support us in achieving and attracting the prosperity and total well-being that many of us desire today.

So what are the action habits of abundance and prosperity? Prosperity habits are formed by performing certain repeated actions that are practiced regularly, much in the same way that scarcity habits are formed. There are many internal elements to habits, as I have mentioned, as well, there are action habits that the internal habits drive. There are certain basic habits that you can begin creating today.

  • Prosperity habit # 1 – consistently know where you are financially, your income and your expenses; know the facts about  your money, know what your financial set point is.
  • Prosperity habit # 2 – know where you want to be; determine the amount of money you want to make, determine what you want to gross and net before taxes, in the short term as well as the long term.
  • Prosperity habit # 3 – consistently pay yourself first. Determine an amount and pay yourself first and pay yourself regularly, regardless of the amount, the consistency is what matter

Wealth Practice #22 – Wealth Habits

1.) Begin practicing the three (3) prosperity habits previously mentioned. Establish your income set point by determining your average income over the past 12 months. Get your facts.

2.) Determine where you want to be financially in the next 12-24 months. Set a gross income goal for yourself personally and for your business. Determine a new set point for you and for your business. Create the daily habit to focus on how you want to spend this money. Write it down, look at it daily, add to it. Keep in mind how you want to invest it, share it, and spend it for yourself and your business.

Remember, we are what we practice! This creates our habits.
