Do you find, at times, that you seem to attract people into your life that have similar complaints or similar problems? Do they get on your nerves or do you get impatient with their issues?  I know this problem only too well. It is with these people that we can learn where our pressure points are within us. However, isn’t it tempting to think that it is the other person who is creating the problem for us? Of course, it feels that way. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t be experiencing normal victim energy. It is normal because we all possess this perspective, it is universal.

It is quite normal for all of us to fall prey to our victim energy. It sounds like this: they’re doing it to me; they’re making me angry or sad; the other person shouldn’t be the way that they are; I would feel so much better if ‘they’ would change; why do I always have to be the one to change; the other person is the one who is acting so badly, etc. Do any of these statements sound familiar? The truth is, we all have this victim energy within us. It is a universal energy that we all come to eventually experience.
The unique aspect that we bring to this victim energy is the way we react once we’ve experienced it. Do you know how you respond to someone who has violated your values, expectations, or needs? Are you indignant, defensive, or do you shrink and blame yourself? These are all very typical reactions that overtake us without our realizing it.
So, what does our victim energy have to do with creating a wealthy mindset? Well, nothing, as far as creating a wealthy mindset goes. It does, however, have everything to do with preventing us from creating a wealthy mindset. The victim energy comes from our survival, scarcity mind. It believes that we do not have the power to change our circumstances and that other people or situations hold the power over us. This is what triggers our defensiveness, our indignant attitude that believes we are right, or the blame and judgment that we get trapped in.
Having a wealthy mindset comes from the belief and knowing that we have the power to create our experiences. It is our ultimate responsibility. This is one of the most challenging concepts to grasp. I have seen so many people, myself included, struggle with the notion that we are powerless and subject to others. The truth is that our experience of a situation is entirely up to us. Things happen, yet, how we are impacted by them is all about us. (This is where you want to breathe.)
Maybe this sounds right to you, yet, how easy is it for you to put this into practice on a daily basis? The habit force of this universal pattern must be recognized and let go. This is not accomplished in a one time event. It happens over time with the practice of awareness and choosing again.
The people and circumstances that evoke the victim energy within us are really a gift to us. Have you noticed that when you make a decision to change, like creating wealth from the inside out, people and circumstances that evoke the victim energy seem to come into your life? I find that when I am ready to release an old limiting, fearful pattern of thinking, I tend to experience more problems through troubling people and difficult circumstances.
I think that is nature’s way of helping us see ourselves in our stuff. It makes it easier to see and release the victim pattern when it surrounds us. We then have to remember what we really want in the first place, freedom, power, acceptance, and unlimited possibilities.

Wealth Practice # 14

  1. Choose three (3) people that currently rub you the wrong way. How do you feel with their behavior?
  2. Accept that their behaviors are about them, and that your reaction to them is about you. What do you notice about your behavior? Are you defensive, indignant, or blameful? Identify your resistance to the other person or circumstance.
  3. Establish what is really important to you. What is it that you are really wanting, more power, more respect, acceptance, etc.?
  4. Identify the beliefs that are causing your inner conflict. What is your victim saying about you? Become aware of the habitual thoughts and feelings of your personal victim energy. See it for what it is and then be willing to let it go!

Remember, we are what we practice!
Keep wealth as a priority and remember why you want to be wealthy.
