Our fear doesn’t come just from thinking that we’ll be told no or be disagreed with. It comes from the belief that the other person will get angry and get back at us somehow. This imagined outcome could look like the other person will leave us, negatively judge us, or fire us. The idea that we are going to lose something that we highly value is what hijacks us into ‘never, never land. It keeps us from doing what we need to do.
The fear of retaliation, loss of our sense of security, or damage to our sense of self, can make it nearly impossible to have important conversations in which we ask for things to change, or to make the financial investments that will improve and grow our business. Consequently, the situation we want to improve continues to stay the same, year after year after year. Very costly, both monetarily and emotionally, don’t you agree?
It is what we think will happen after we offer negative feedback, increase our prices, or ask for what we want and need, etc., that becomes the driving force that keeps us stuck right where we are. Can you see yourself in any of these scenarios? I know I have been in all of them at one time or another. There are (3) three things, my 3-step-values-process, that you can do to take back the reins and be in charge of what you need to do or say in these challenging situations:
1) Identify what you are valuing that is taking precedence over doing what you know you need to do or say, i.e. financial security, personal identity, your need to be accepted, etc.
2) Identify the values that you would demonstrate when you improved your situation, i.e. personal responsibility, integrity, dignity and respect, personal power and strength, etc.
3) Identify the values that are consistent with you doing or saying what is needed. What core values would allow you to grow and improve your current situation? Declare that these new values are your priority. Begin affirming and living them each day.
Creating a wealth consciousness requires us to evaluate the values we are living. When we are in fear, it is our sign that we are being driven by our survival values of security, certainty, acceptance, and the need to control.
Love, in its many forms, such as gratitude, thankfulness, compassion, and joy, is our sign that we are living out of the realm of possibilities and abundance. From this place, our values align with altruistic ideals such as growth, freedom, choice, and more life for all!
I offer you a beginning statement that I use for all of my declarations that I would love to share with you. It brings me into my natural state of abundance and possibility as I affirm what I want. It is, “From the realm of Infinite Intelligence, Divine Creative Power, and Unconditional Love, I declare that I now. . . (I speak my desire”). I invite you to try this the next time you make a new declaration and experience its power.
Wealth Practice # 16
1.) Identify something that you have been putting off doing or saying out of fear. Do the 3-step-values-process that I introduced previously for this action. Be sure this is something that would improve a current situation for you or your business, i.e. having an accountability conversation, making an investment in your future, personally or in business, etc.
2.) Choose an activity each day that represents one of your core values that is consistent with abundance, prosperity, and love. Do this daily. It can be easy and small; the consistency is what matters.
3.) Imagine saying or doing what it is that you know you need to do in your mind daily. See yourself having a conversation or taking action that grows you and /or your business. Repeat this until you feel congruent with your values. Then, take the action, have the conversation, make the investment!
Remember, we are what we practice!
Keep wealth as a priority and remember why you want to be wealthy.
